He essentially gave the 360 it’s eulogy and had us remember its past glories. While I’m not an avid Microsoft fan, I can admit that it has had quite success over the years. The system has sold over 78 million units as of 2013, which is considerably more than its predecessor.

Spencer had this to say in regards to the Xbox’s farewell: Xbox 360 means a lot to everyone in Microsoft and while we’ve had an amazing run, the realities of manufacturing a product over a decade old are starting to creep up on us. Which is why we have made the decision to stop manufacturing new Xbox 360 consoles. We will continue to sell existing inventory of Xbox 360 consoles, with availability varying by country.” The Xbox Live network will remain active for online games, as will a host of stores and online services.

It’s the end of one a series contender in the gaming market and while the Xbox had some seriously atrocious games connected to its name, it also had fantastic ones that will likely never be forgotten.
