Wild's End-03Wild's End-01In 2014, award-winning publisher BOOM! Studios invited readers to the sleepy village of Lower Crowchurch at the cusp of a violent, otherworldly invasion in the critically acclaimed Wild’s End, an anthropomorphic mashup of Wind in the Willows and War of the Worlds. This September, creators Dan Abnett (Guardians of the Galaxy) and I.N.J. Culbard (The King in Yellow) team up once more, this time drawing influence from Invasion of the Body Snatchers in the paranoia-fueled follow-up series Wild’s End: The Enemy Within.

“I think Dan and Ian surprised a lot of readers last year with the first Wild’s End series,” said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. “They created these wonderful characters that we connected with so quickly, and they ended the story on such a frightening note we had to know what happened next! I can’t recommend this series enough. Pick up the first trade and jump on board The Enemy Within as soon as possible!”

As Clive, Susan, Fawkes, and the other survivors of the alien invasion of Lower Crowchurch try to cope with what just happened to their small town, the military arrives in an attempt to cover up the “incident.” Town residents are immediately detained, questioned, and treated with suspicion. Are they alien spies, collaborators, sympathizers? Clive and the rest will need to escape imprisonment if they’re to get the word out and warn the rest of the world before the aliens return.

Praise for the first series, Wild’s End: First Light:

“In my experience, the best comics are the ones that answer questions that you didn’t even know you were asking until you saw them, and [Wild’s End] does that pretty beautifully. The question: Wouldn’t War of The Worlds have been better if it was about a sleepy English hamlet populated entirely by friendly anthropomorphic animals? The answer: Yes. Yes it would be.” – Comics Alliance

“…intoxicating and enchanting with a deadly sting in the tail.” – Newsarama

“…an excellent comic. Strong characterisation ensured Wild’s End read smoothly in its own right, in that it didn’t require a knowledge or familiarity with either source book for readers to be able to enjoy the story… It also featured some absolutely spectacular work by artist Ian Culbard; in my opinion the best of his career: clear, bold beautiful lines, with superb colouring choices.” – Comics and Cola

“With a timeless look, a strong sense of character and relationships, and a twist ending that makes the conceit of whatever comes next incredibly intriguing, Wild’s End is another Abnett and Culbard book not to be missed.” – Multiversity Comics

“…Dan Abnett and I.N.J. Culbard are building something very special with this book.” – Comicosity

“Gorgeous artwork, engaging characters and the quirky combination of two familiar genres make Wild’s End something definitely worth seeking out…” – Big Comic Page

“…an appealing and enthralling read.” – Bloody Disgusting

“A well written story, eye-catching art, and intriguing characters are all part of Wild’s End‘s perfect formula for a fascinating read.” – All-Comic
