Around this time of year as San Diego Comic Con starts to draw closer with each passing day we start to get excited. We get excited of what is not only coming out but what might be as we are given glimpses into the 2018-2019 season of movies, games and TV shows. This article is going to focus on two of the shows that are currently missing in action. As to what is going on with these shows we can only speculate.
Locke and Key: Take a great comic book series written by Joe Hill (the son of Steven King) and turn it into a TV series sounds like a great idea right? The comic focuses on three Locke children who along with their mother relocate to a mysterious mansion in Lovecraft, Massachusetts. This sounds like it would be an amazing idea for a show however, everyone has since passed on the pilot. Hulu who said they were actually going to pick this up passed on it and another show called Crash and Burn which, dealt with school shootings. I can see them passing on Crash and Burn but why Locke and Key? With the popularity of such amazing kid shows as Lemony Snicketts, Lost in Space and of course Stranger Things there is no reason why Locke and Key should be passed on.
Tales from the Crypt: When the first several seasons of Tales of the Crypt were released we were treated to some of the best stories that EC Comics had to offer. When we heard of a possible reboot of the show (which can be seen here) I was completely overjoyed! Add to the fact that we were not only getting Jon Kassir back as the voice of the Cryptkeeper but also M. Night Shyamalan to help direct the show well all I could say was YES PLEASE! However, it seemed to fall apart over the course of 2017 as there were creative differences between TNT and Shyamalan so the show wound up being shelved for now. What does the future hold for this series? Right now it is completely up in the air and who knows if we might get word at San Diego Comic Con that the project is alive and well once again.
And there you have it. These are two properties that would be amazing as television shows. What are some of the canceled pilots you would love seen made into shows? Let us know!
