Comics Anthology Uses Horror to Examine Global Politics
SEATTLE, WA (June 28, 2017) – Eric Palicki and Matt Miner have launched a new Kickstarter campaign to fund publication of This Nightmare Kills Fascists, a 160-page black and white horror comics anthology filled with stories reflecting on the state of international politics in 2017. The campaign seeks $20,000 in funding and runs through July 14, 2017.
“I’m honored to have been called up, and I’m really proud of what I [and collaborator Soo Lee have] added,” said contributing writer Ryan K. Lindsay (Negative Space, Beautiful Canvas), adding, “the book has this loose idea of being a ‘horror’ antho about our current global political climate. But we come at that in completely wild and oblique ways. Completely fun to do.”
“My story is called ‘Thermonuclear Hunger Strike,’ about a man out to eat the president who caused a nuclear war,” said Justin Jordan (Spread, Luther Strode), providing just one example of the content readers can expect from This Nightmare Kills Fascists.
Other creators writing or drawing stories for the anthology include Tini Howard, Ariela Kristantina, Vita Ayala, John Bivens, Christian DiBari, Christopher Sebela, Erica Schultz, Ryan Ferrier, Kelly Williams, Fabian Lelay, Katy Rex, and others, many of whom have also contributed selections of their previous work, script reviews, and custom sketches to the campaign as backer rewards. Other rewards include physical and digital copies of the book, signed bookplates, and name and likeness rights in two of the stories.
Matt Miner is a New York-based comics writer whose credits include Liberator, Critical Hit, Toe Tag Riot, and GWAR: Orgasmageddon.
Eric Palicki lives and writes in Seattle, Washington. His work includes ORPHANS, Red Angel Dragnet, Fake Empire, No Angel, and Marvel’s Guardians of Infinity.
