When I was growing up I had movies like the French Connection or China Syndrome to look forward to. Some of the action scenes in these films were amazing and still hold up today. However, all this would change when I got exposed to my first John Woo film and that was Hardboiled. This film was amazing as there was enough guns and bloodshed in the beginning alone that would have lasted over three movies back then. Now the folks over at Well Go Entertainment have released a new movie called Believer but will this make one out of you?
Believer starts out with Won-ho, a police detective who is trying to find out the identity of one Mr. Lee. Mr. Lee is the leader of the largest drug cartel in all of Asia but there is a problem as no one knows what the man looks like. Mr. Lee also takes great pains to keep his identity a secret as if anyone were to know his true identity he would be taken out by rivals. This is the basis of the movie and telling you more would give away some great parts of the movie so I suggest that you go ahead and watch it. What I will say is that there is a lot of action in this movie so if I had to compare it to another Asian movie I would compare it to some of John Woo’s films such as Hardboiled as the action sequences are over the top.
