The Banana Splits Are Back…As a Horror Movie?

One of the things that I loved about growing up in the 70’s was Saturday mornings. I would get up really early, head downstairs and have the TV on REAL low so I could watch great shows. From the greater known shows such as Scooby Doo and the Gummi Bears to lesser known ones like Pole Position and Kidd Video there were some great shows spread across the networks.

However, there were some live action shows that made no sense and one of these was called The Banana Splits Adventure Hour. This was a show that hosted three cartoon shows (Three Musketeers, Arabian Knights and Micro Ventures) and one live action show (Danger Island). During the breaks between the cartoons the Banana Splits would sing songs or play in an amusement park. The Banana Splits consisted of a lion named Droopy, a beagle named Fleegle, an ape named Bingo and an elephant named Snorky. This show was also part of Sid and Marty Kroft’s lineup that had a lot of great shows.

Fast-forward to 2019 and I found out that the Banana Splits are coming back.

As a horror movie.

Yes. You aren’t reading this wrong and this far from an April fools joke. I did research. There’s an IMDB page for this movie (go here to check it out!). Check out the above trailer as the family of four goes to the performance of the Banana Splits where something goes horribly wrong. Will the family survive?

Really folks? Really?

This is like trying to convert Sigmund and the Sea Monsters into a horror romp as a family discovers an innocent monster but the rest of his clan wants to murder people. I had better shut up before a studio exec hears this and green lights that project. This is a DUMB idea for a horror movie! They are trying to mix Banana Splits with Five Nights at Freddys (and yes we’re getting a FNAF movie as well). How is this going to make money? Seriously! You need to stop trying to rehash children’s shows as horror movies!

What do you think about this recent news about a Banana Splits movie and would you go see it? Let us know! We want to hear from you!
