Tensions Start in The Walking Dead Season 9

The Walking Dead’s 8th season has to be one of the most tense seasons of the series ever as we lost characters that we loved in All Out War. Now at the recently concluded San Diego Comic Con they have revealed the trailer for the show’s 9th season. And while it may look like a paradise on the surface, much deeper you can see the cracks start to form in the alliances that were previously held in season 8.

At the start of the trailer we see that Rick goes and talks to Negan who is held in a cell that he will never escape from. Then it shows a montage of shots and just like in the comics there has been a passage of time from where season 8 ends and season 9 begins. We see all of the communities not just surviving but thriving as buildings are constructed and crops are tended. We also see that Maggie had her baby and they are both doing rather well. Rick then addresses the people of Sanctuary saying that everyone is going to help pitch in so they can get back on their feet.

However, all is not as it seems as Maggie addresses Rick with a bit of a cryptic line, “When we were fighting the Saviors you told me that soon you’d be the one following me. But you didn’t because I wasn’t someone to follow. That changes now.” We start to see a rift form between people in the group as some start to be at each other’s throats. And this is just a small glimpse of what will be happening next season as we have learned two concrete facts. First this is going to be Andrew Lincoln’s last season on The Walking Dead so we have no idea what is going to be in store for him. Also, we found out the lead role of Alpha has been cast which means we are going to be getting the Whispers story arc. For those that don’t know the Whispers are a crazed group of survivors that wear the rotting flesh of the dead as a protective suit in order for them to blend in.
