Telltale Completing Walking Dead Through Another Company

So we all know the story by now, the formerly successful Telltale games had to close its doors on all its’ employees. Not only that but just last week they declared bankruptcy and are going through their final legal proceedings.

That spelled the end for all games in production, and any storytelling dreams that I was looking forward to. I’m thinking of specifically A Wolf Among Us 2, as the Fables series is a personal favorite of mine. That said, it was rather disheartening to hear about the company having to shut down. However, it seems not all hope is lost for the companies most successful IP, The Walking Dead: The Final Season.

The final two episodes of that season will actually be released, just later than expected. Though one could argue that later, as opposed to never, is still earlier than expected. The wait is due to the company Skybound, who has picked up the title from Telltale, dealing with all the logistics and legalities of producing the title.

Skybound had this to say on their website in regards to the situation: “It’s been a ton of work logistically and legally to get us to a place where we’re able to roll up our sleeves and get to the actual work. After Telltale shut its doors, the game was, unfortunately, unable to be worked on and hence the release dates of Episodes 3 and 4 have been delayed,”.

For those of you who are fans of the franchise, and worrying about the quality of work, never fear. It seems that many former Telltale developers will be working on episodes 3 and 4 with Skybound to ensure that it gets done right.

Admittedly I’m still a little salty about Telltales treatment of their former employees, but I really like the Walking Dead series so…..yeah?
