When Incredibles was released back in 2004 at first I thought it was going to be a normal, run of the mill superhero movie. I am extremely happy that it turned out to be the masterpiece that it is. Superheroes were outlawed because of the damage and danger they presented and have gone into hiding. At the end of the film we saw that a new villain called The Underminer had erupted from the depths to steal and cause chaos. For years we waited for a sequel and this year we actually got it and now it is available on blu-ray. Strap yourselves in and get ready as this is my review of Incredibles 2.

Incredbiles 2 picks up right where the first one left off as the Underminer erupted from beneath the surface of the city. The family springs into action to deal with this threat and eventually this causes the program that protected them to shut down. The reason for this is they cannot keep paying for the damages the superheroes cause and also relocating the family every time something like this happens. So the Parr family is staying at a hotel and everything seems bleak when they are approached by a businessman Winston Deavor who is in charge of DevTech. This giant telecommunications corporation wants to bring back supers and they meet with Frozone, Elastigirl and Mr. Incredible. Winston decides to back Elastigirl as they think she is their best bet which causes Robert Parr to take care of the kids while mom fights crime. Things change however, as a new villain called The Screenslaver, who can hypnotize anyone into doing their bidding, hits the scene. I won’t give much more away however, I will say that the film throughout is amazing and just a joy to watch. Everything from the action scenes to Robert dealing with the kids as well as Jack-Jack who has powers but cannot control them. I saw the film for the first time and thought it was an amazing piece of cinema and if you saw the first one you need to check this out as well.

There are also a TON of special features on this disc including two small mini-movies! Yes you heard correct! The first one is an “Auntie Edna” movie as it shows Edna pulling an all-nighter to design a super suit for Jack-Jack – one that will harness his powers. The other short is called Bao and this is about an aging Chinese mother and her kids are all grown and she lives all by herself. However, one day one of the dumplings she made springs to life as a little boy dumpling. There is an also a making of the Bao featurette along with ten deleted scenes that were cut from the film along with introductions to each piece. There are also a TON of behind the scenes featurettes on how the movie was made. Super Stuff covers how things were designed from the film from buildings, vehicles and even the costumes. Heroes & Villains documents the backstory and character designs behind all of the characters in Incredibles 2. There is also a short piece on Ralph Eggleston who was the production designer on the film as well as Strong Coffee which is a lesson in animation hosted by Brad Bird. Super Baby shows how Jack-Jack was created for the movie and it is set to a great beat hosted by Frankie & Paige from Bizzardvark. If you ever wanted to know what its like to work for Pixar then Paths to Pixar: Everyday Heroes is a spot to watch. They show what it is like to make a film while balancing that fine line between work and family. Character theme songs, Vintage Toy Commercial Spots, a Toolkit montage, trailers and outtakes and stories round up the rest of the special features that are on this disc.

If you have seen the Incredibles 2 in the theater and you loved it then you NEED to get this set as there are more special features than you can shake a stick at. For more information about the film head over to https://movies.disney.com/incredibles-2 and get ready to get back into action.
