Some games magically survive in a world of high definition graphics, and extremely intriguing story lines. This is done by having one thing that the competition doesn’t, and that is an interesting gimmick. That said, SuperHot, an indie game brought to you by the publishers of the same name has such a gimmick which is the fact that time in the game only moves when you do.

This trailer will give you more of an inkling as to what I mean:

That’s right guys, SuperHot is a first person shooter game that revlolves around the concept of one hit kills for both you and the enemy. However your advantage lays in the fact that when you stop moving, so does the action. Which gives you a chance to figure out your next move, and hopefully survive your rather action packed encounter with the enemy.

Each level of the action packed game uses classic movie scenes, ranging from: The Office Raid, The drug deal gone wrong, a hallway brawl. It jumps from a variety of action packed movies that you might recognize, and others you might not. What is important though, is that it’s non stop action from start to finish.

Everything about the game is simplistic in nature, all so you can focus on the action in front of you. The enemies are red, the weapons are seen as black, and the world itself is white or grey. The game doesn’t even have background music featured within it. This allows gamers to concentrate on how they wish to navigate their route, especially when they stop time by their lack of movement. If you don’t walk, everything in the game essentially freezes. The bullets edge toward you inch by inch, melee wielding enemies move like snails and your brain goes into overdrive to figure out how to best survive what should be a deadly encounter.

In truth this game is pretty fun if you discard the need for some beautiful graphical masterpiece and accept it for what it is. A fun game that you will likely die at, despite your time wielding abilities, for the first few times due to overwhelming enemies.

Go have some fun guys.
