The game that Star Wars fans have been waiting for, Star Wars: Battlefront, after ten years, is finally going to be released. That said if you’re eager for a chance to get your hands on some Star Wars game play, then I have some good news for you. Publisher Electronic Arts has announced that Star Wars: Battlefront will be launching a free open beta in early October. That’s right you heard me. Early October, FREE beta. This means everyone with the latest gen systems can download the beta and play for free. The beta will have a lot of multiplayer (both co-op and competitive) so make sure to kidnap your friends and make them play with you, and for PS4 users, worry not because PlayStation Plus will not be required to participate. The beta will also allow for online and couch co-op (so even more reason to kidnap your friends) in modes like Survival on Tatooine, Walker Assault on Hoth, and a brand new mode called Drop Zone just to name a few. That said, don’t worry about having a good internet connection to play all these levels either, you can play many offline missions either with an AI partner or split screen with your friends.

The gameplay boasts epic ground battles between rebels and imperial Stormtroopers that may involve speederbikes, AT-Ats, guns, explosives, Luke Skywalker, and Darth Vader.

Ground battles aren’t your thing? That’s too bad because air (and/or space) battles probably won’t be any easier but you’re welcome to try to out pilot your adversaries in Star Wars vehicles like the rebels’ signature X-Wing, the imperial grunt forces’ Tie fighters or the series’ most famous vehicle, the Millennium Falcon.
Flying has never looked so good.
The pre-order packages for Star Wars: Battlefront are standard and deluxe editions. The deluxe edition comes with extra equipment: Ion Grenade, Ion Torpedo, Ion Shock emote, and the Victory emote. The standard edition is just the base game. Both editions do include a one week early access pass to the battle on the planet of Jakku.
