Stan Lee Dead at the Age of 95

Today I count myself lucky as I can think back to the 1980’s when I was living in Staten Island at the time and my father took me to a comic convention in NYC. Stan Lee was reported to be there and I had always wanted to meet him. The lines weren’t long and he wasn’t swamped and I had a chance to go up to him and thank him for all the characters that he created. He was amazing and he had a tendency to light up a room whenever he walked into one.

Today on 11/12/2018 Stan Lee passed away at the age of 95.

I had no idea as I was at work all day and I wasn’t connected to the internet and didn’t peruse the web from my phone. My editor Steve contacted me and wanted me to write a piece on Stan Lee. When I heard that my heart sunk as I knew he was in bad health and events in his life didn’t help his condition at all.

Stan Lee is comics. Without Stan Lee we would not have the iconic characters that we know and love today. Fantastic Four, Spiderman, The Hulk, Avengers on and on and without him there would have never been a Marvel.

So I implore you whether you are a new fan of comics or a die hard old one like myself. Take a moment and look to the night sky and whisper “excelsior.”

We will miss you Stan Lee. Godspeed.
