I just mentioned it the day before with Ubisoft, and it looks like Square Enix is addressing the issue for themselves. With the coronavirus forcing E3’s cancellation, companies were left without their normal method of presentation for upcoming games. Some have chosen to go the route of their own E3 presentation, Square Enix has decided to forego that.
According to Bloomberg reporter Takashi Mochizuki, the gaming titan has decided that such a large scale production would be far too hard at this moment. Instead, they will be doing individual announcements as games are ready to present to the public. Essentially, they are going to tease us slowly.
Square Enix said it won’t hold online event to unveil this FY’s new releases around E3’s timing because making assets ready for such show has become difficult due to Covid-19. Instead, it will announce new titles on individual basis.

This decision isn’t one that’s too surprising as Square Enix has never really been known for big press conferences. That said, I hope we have some exciting games coming our way. With my Kingdom Hearts 3 all beat to perfection, I need something new to sink my teeth into once Final Fantasy 7 is done.
