Scalebound Delayed
Author: S.A.
In life, we can expect a whole host of things to delay us. These things range from a messed up metro system, to merely getting stuck behind a large line at your favourite fast food restaurant. However these are minor delays. In the gaming world, when a game gets delayed, it’s usually for a while. That said, to ring in the new year we have our first game delay laid right at our doormat in the form of the Xbox exclusive game Scalebound.
The face of surprise.
For those of you not in the know, Scalebound is a new title being brought to us by the developers over at Platinum, which is better known for it’s Bayonetta Series. Initial hopes had this game slated for an early holiday release in the 2016 year, however it seems that things have changed and the game wont be slotted for release until 2017.
The company has issued a statement in regards to this change in development plans: “In order to deliver on our ambitious vision and ensure that Scalebound lives up to expectations, we will be launching the game in 2017. This will give us the time needed to bring to life all the innovative features and thrilling gameplay experiences that we have planned.”
While not necessarily the greatest news for the up and coming title, or Microsoft itself, I have little doubt it will affect it’s actual sales. With it being a new title to be featured on the Xbox, with no following to be had as of yet, it has a clean slate in regards to expectations from fans. When Platinum releases it’s product, it’s important that they release a title they can be proud of and if the added time is what they need, well I feel we should encourage them. That said, we can only hope that the company will do as they have said, and bring “life” to the thrilling game features that they plan on providing us.
I also hold out hope that this will be one of the few delays of the new year. Though that’s a very slim hope, like paper thin. We all know the score in terms of gaming, and this is sure to be one of many for this 2016 year.
