Rumours Say Nintendo NX Delayed To Add VR
If ever there was a group of gossiping old ladies, than the gaming community would fit the bill. Every week the rumour mill seems to turn out another story about an upcoming game or project that will be reaching our finger tips. Often telling us fantastical reasons as to why the game is delayed, or what will be added to the upcoming project.
In this case, the newest rumour involves the Nintendo NX being delayed to add VR technology.
Whether the rumour is true or not remains to be seen, but the idea hold some merit. Currently, not much is known about the Nintendo NX other than the fact that it should be launching March of 2017. The original release date was scheduled for sometime in 2016, however the supposed add on of VR technology has caused quite the set back. That said, Nintendo really doesn’t have much time to get their spec designs in order and start manufacturing the devices if they wish to meet their designed deadline.
The rumours stem from individuals who reportedly work at the Chinese Foxconn factory, the same factory that will be producing the Nintendo NX. The sources had this to say about the NX: “the delay was because Nintendo wished to enhance the game console’s video-game/handheld-game-integrated gaming experience and add virtual reality (VR) function into the system to gain advantages in the upcoming video game and mobile game competitions”. They also we’re willing to offer reports on what the future system will apparently look like: “The device features a 5- to 7-inch display, controller and joystick for users to play as a mobile gaming product, but it is also able to connect to a TV for users to play as a video game system. Nintendo is now planning to add VR function to the device to satisfy the popular trend in the gaming market”.
This could be all made up, or we could be looking at the first real concrete information on the Nintendo NX. The gaming community will just have to hold on and see the validity of the claims. The last of which, which revolves around the NX’s production, has us wondering about the confidence Nintendo has in their upcoming project. The Nintendo NX was apparently ordered in the number of 20 million units, while that number has been slashed to 10 million units.
That doesn’t, if true, speak of confidence.
It’s important to remember that all of these are just rumours floating around, hopefully Nintendo will deem us worthy of some real information in the immediate future.
