It is that time of the year again where the weather is hot, the skies are blue and every fan of comics, games and entertainment converge on San Diego for San Diego Comic Con! The whole event is massive as it spreads over five days and not only takes over the convention center but the surrounding areas as well. This series of articles is going to break up some of the exclusives and events planned for the convention and this section is devoted to the Movie and TV section of the con! These folks bring the best to the silver screen and the living room and I am focusing on four companies and here they are!

AMC is known for their shows Preacher, The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead and Better Call Saul and they have more than a few events planned for this year’s SDCC! For Better Call Saul they are going to have a panel in the famed Hall H at 3:30pm-4:30pm on Thursday July 19th as well as a premiere red carpet on 6:30pm on same day at the UA Horton Plaza. Fear the Walking Dead will have a panel Friday, July 20th in Hall H from 11:15am-12:15pm followed by The Walking Dead from 12:15pm-1:15pm. Preacher will have their panel from 7:30pm-8:30pm in Hall H as well. That is just scratching the surface however as AMC is going to have a booth at 4237 in the exhibit hall and no telling what surprises they’ll have in store there! Also, The Walking Dead: Our World will be debuting at SDCC and there’s game activation available at the booth previously mentioned. And if you want to stop by the Dead Quarters which will be located at the Martin Luther King Promenade in front of the Hilton Gaslamp Hotel (4th Ave & L Street across from the convention center) this is something that should be experienced. This is a fan zone that is split in half between The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead as there are going to be various events set up for the fans to experience.

Netflix is also coming back to SDCC and they look to have four offerings for us this year. Along with having a booth at 4045 they are going to have panels throughout the weekend. The first panel revolves around a show that I never had heard of and that’s Black Summer. Supposedly this is a spin off to the SyFy tv show Z-Nation (which if you haven’t watched it is a twisted Walking Dead). This panel takes place on Thursday July 19, 2018 from 6:00pm – 6:50pm at Indigo Ballroom, Hilton San Diego Bayfront. The second panel focuses on Iron Fist which is coming out with a second season and you can see what Danny Rand and Colleen Wing will be going through. This is going to be taking place Thursday July 19, 2018 6:00pm – 7:00pm in Ballroom 20. Next the Netflix crew is going to be showing off Season Seven of Voltron Legendary Defender. See what is in store for the crew that form the legendary robot Voltron on Friday July 20, 2018 10:15am – 11:15am in Room 6BCF. Each attendee will get a free San Diego Comic Con Exclusive Poster. On Saturday it is one of the biggest events of this SDCC and that is Matt Groening’s new show Disenchantment. Where the Simpsons dealt with present day issues and Futurama dealt with the future the land of Disenchantment deals with a fantasy world where magic and monsters roam free. You can check out this panel on Saturday July 21, 5:30pm – 6:30pm in room 6A.

Warner Brothers has become one of the giant studios releasing great films and they have a big event slated for Hall H on Saturday July 21, from 10:30am-12:30pm. This event is going to cover all of the movies that Warner Bros has slated for the remainder of this year and going forward into 2019. However, this is a closely guarded secret as there is no telling what could be hinted at this conference as all eyes are drawn to this main stage. There is going to be an event showcasing the 1984 Supergirl on Blu-ray and that will be taking place Thursday July 19, 2018 from 4:30pm – 5:30pm in Room 6DE. They also have a booth located at 4545 and there are going to have plenty of bags to hold all the goodies you will be getting at SDCC. They also will have pins ranging from Batman, Joker, Harley Quinn and even Martian Manhunter so go ahead and check them out to get some great swag as well as check out some of the cool things at the booth.

20th Century Fox/MGM studios are going to be at SDCC as well however, they only have one event planned and that is going to be from 10:30am-11:30am on Thursday, July 19 in Hall H as they talk about the latest Predator movie. Directed by Shane Black (who starred in the original Predator) this is going to show off what the latest film in the franchise can do. Also they have a booth located at 3529 and I am sure there are going to be some great reveals at the con. I am hoping that we hear some more from Orion classics line as the Domestics was just released and I want to see more gritty films released through that line.

Lionsgate is also going to be at SDCC however, I have poured over the schedule and they have nothing planned. However, at the booth they have announced that they are giving away a John Wick Steelbook for free at their booth which is located at 3635. They will probably have some films announced during the convention as well.

Lucasfilm will also be attending SDCC and their booth at 2913 will not only be showcasing some of the props from previous movies but a unique piece that will be on display at the booth. This giant piece ties all three sets of Star Wars films together (the original Star Wars I-III, IV-VI and of course VII and VIII) . This pencil drawing is huge and has the major characters sprawling across a giant canvas that will be auctioned off in pieces at the convention!

And there you have it! This is just one of a few articles I am releasing to keep you guys informed about all the great stuff coming out of San Diego, Keep it tuned into Comix Asylum for more news and exclusives!
