Ride with Norman Reedus 204

New Mexico home to mountains, long stretches of highway, killer trails and open land is the beginning of the next leg of Norman Reedus’ six-episode road trip. Things get rolling pretty quickly on the latest episode of Ride with Norman Reedus as Norman takes to the bumpy desert trails of Montessa Park with stunt riders Ernie Vigil and Nick Apex.

There’s more than meets the eye where new Mexico is concerned. For the ill informed its more than the aliens sightings, a remote desert wasteland and the setting for Breaking Bad. A thriving center of arts, diverse culture and a window to the wonders of the outdoors, Norman and musician Aimee Nash begin their journey in Albuquerque and end it in White Sands.

Norman and Aimee pay a visit to world-renowned architect and bike collector, Antoine Predock to talk buildings and bikes. After a quick tour of Antoine’s vintage bike collection and a look at some of his architectural creations, the conversation soon turns to the connection between motorcycles and architecture. The trio then hit the road to explore the sights. Before hitting the road towards the Sierra Blanca Mountains Aimee and Norman stop off at the Owl Cafe for some of their famous chilies.

Zip lines are the order of day two for their trek though the desert and into the mountains. The Sierra Blanca Peak, the highest elevation in New Mexico is home to the southern most skiing in the United States. As they ride through Lincoln National Forest its hard to reconcile the snow capped pine trees and the desert below are part of the same landscape. To add a little bit of spice to their adventure Aimee and Norman don chicken and gorilla suits and get some instruction from Wyndham Runningwater of Ski Apache on how to survive the trip down the mountain.

Day three brings the episode to an explosive end when Norman and Aimee travel to White Sands military range. White Sands is one half army testing ground and one half geological marvel. While there Aimee and Norman meet members of the military who show them some of the latest in military tech. The pair then gets the opportunity to use some of the weaponry on display. The last stop is White Sands National Monument and a ride through the largest gypsum dunes in the world.

With a plethora of differing landscapes, New Mexico is a wonder to behold. From the desert trails of Albuquerque to the snow capped peak of Sierra Blanca, New Mexico is home to a variety of cultures and a rich history. As the sun dips down behind the white dunes of White Sands the orange sky is a perfect exclamation point on one of the prettiest episodes of Ride with Norman Reedus.
