HeManThunderCats_promo_Freddie_E_Williams_II[1]As I was a child of the 80’s I grew up with cartoons that ranged from humorous to action packed. The two big ones were Thundercats and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Both of these shows had dynamic characters, incredible villains and great stories. Have you ever wondered what would happen if these universes happened to cross paths? Wonder no more as DC Comics has released the epic He-Man/Thundercats #1. But is this a comic that you will want to pick up or should you just watch some of the classic episodes?

The story starts on third earth as Mumm-Ra suffers another defeat at the hands of the Thundercats. The ancient spirits of evil silence Mumm-Ra as he has another plan and they have discovered a sword of great power. They set out to retrieve this blade as it has enough power to rival the Sword of Omens. The blade resides on the planet known as Eternia and belongs to its protector He-Man. We then cut to Eternia where Prince Adam is late again for a ceremony that is being thrown in his honor. Without giving any more away all I can say is that it sets up the arc for the next issue and it’s going to be amazing!

This series is written by the talented team of Rob David and Lloyd Goldfine. If you are familiar with the He Man universe being written by DC then you know who these two are. They have penned some great books such as Eternia War and remain faithful to the source material. Both writers keep true to the He Man and Thundercats universes keeping in style with the characters from the cartoon series. The art for He-Man/Thundercats is being done by the very talented Freddie E. Williams II. His amazing skills have graced more than a few books including the Batman/TMNT crossover from IDW. He lends a great visual style as he gives his own take on these iconic characters and it is amazing.

If you are a fan of either of these shows and have ever wondered what would happen if these two universes collided then you need to get this book. So go out to your local comic shop and check out the clash of these two titans!
