No Single Player Campaign in Black Ops 4

The lack of a single player campaign in Black Ops 4 is a disappointment.

When I first got involved in PC gaming it was before the first person shooter was developed (yes this was back in 1992 or so). However, my first FPS was a game called Castle Wolfenstein and I have to say I spent many hours over these crude graphics and enjoying the single player experience. Most of the games that followed such as Doom and Quake had stories that immersed the player in a world that was created by the programmers for you to enjoy – whether you were exploring a fantasy land filled with dragons and mythical creatures or a science fiction masterpiece where you played as a marine to investigate an artifact that was inhabited by an alien race. These stories have stood the test of time and they have been played by so many of us again and again to re-live those key moments.

Now Treyarch wants to take that away from us.

Why? Because they said their single player campaign is “too far out there” and they would rather scrap it for an unique single player experience. What the hell does that even mean?! Also, it is rumored that a Battle Royale mode is being hinted at but instead of 100 people it will be around 18. And seriously how hard is it to create a boots on the ground single player black ops campaign? You have TONS of past, present and near future options to choose from! You could do a scenario where you need to infiltrate a launch site in North Korea as they have developed a Mirv-6 that is capable of hitting the United States.

There are literally hundreds of scenarios to choose from and for Treyarch to say that there is not going to be a single player mode included with the game….

Makes me not want to even touch it.

I said it. I am sorry. I played the single player campaign in Call of Duty WWII and it was EXCELLENT! From the epic invasion of Normandy beach to fighting over the skies above Europe these moments made the game great and playable.

So if anyone from Treyarch is reading this and thinks it is a good idea to put a dumb co-op or training mode as their single player campaign all I can say is…

Stop.

Think about the legions of fans who love playing Black Ops for the single player experience. Some of us don’t care about multiplayer and would rather play the game solo against computer controlled opponents. We want a great story to go along with the rest of the parts of Black Ops 4 and if we don’t get it it will be a bigger disaster than Infinite Warfare.

And we don’t want that do we?
