Nintendo NX A No Show at E3
Author: S.A.
Die hard Nintendo fans have recently been hit with disappointment yet again from the once proud gaming giant. The Nintendo NX, Nintendo’s upcoming platform, has been removed from E3’s upcoming line up of goodies and gems revealed to the gaming world.
Good job Nintendo.
This disappointing news is immensely hurtful to the platforms hype, especially given the year of rumors and speculation flying around about the console. Nintendo fans have no choice but to wait and hold out hope that this console will be worth the wait.
Almost like chasing the girl of your dreams.
The likely reason behind the delay can likely be attributed to the fact that the system itself is not ready in the least. With Nintendo clamming up in regards to the specifics of the upcoming NX, the company stating they won’t be discussing the console, this is mere speculation. However it seems to have some basis if one is to consider that Nintendo keeps emphasizing the importance behind having enough ‘launch’ games for their new console, as oppose to flaunting the new capabilities of the NX.
An admittedly odd move for any gaming company, as many want potential gamers to know ‘why’ their console is better than the competition.
The president of Nintendo himself, Tatsumi Kimishima, continues to emphasize the no games angle. He himself has stated that the NX won’t launch this holiday season because it doesn’t have enough games to go with it. His exact words during a Q & A interview with investors were as follows: “We believe that when launching hardware, the amount of quality software for consumers to play that is available at launch is important,” he said, “we ought to determine our launch dates based on this.”
The importance of a launch game isn’t to be underrated, as having a fun title to really emphasis the new consoles design is always the best way to show case an upcoming console. That said, Nintendo has a fun game that should be arriving with the launch of the NX. A game that more than a few gamers, myself included, are waiting avidly for.
That being the new Legend of Zelda.
This title alone will attract more than its fair share of consumers, more than likely pacifying more than a few of Nintendo’s ‘launch’ game fears.
So the question again remains, ‘why the delay?’
In the end, only Nintendo really knows their reasoning behind the delay.
Hopefully we will be seeing the new console soon.
