Nintendo Loyalty Program
Author: S.A.

Nintendo’s looking to make some consumer moves, enough that they can fix the dismal shape of their current business outlook. With Nintendo not doing as well as their hay day, due to Microsoft and Sony taking them to school on a regular basis, they have to find a way to draw in a new consumer base. That said, they are trying something new in the form of their newly announced ‘My Nintendo loyalty program’.

The company won’t be aiming small in their goals either, the rumour mill is buzzing that Nintendo’s first goal line is 100 million users on their system. They hope to manage this rather lofty number by rolling out the Loyalty program in over 39 countries.

my-nintendoThe company states that points on their new system can be accumulated through not only game consoles, but also smart devices. These points are, which are both platinum and gold in nature, can be used to not only discount objects on their store but also in exchange for “original goods”. Though its important to note that the platinum and gold points seem to be used for different things respectively. The gold for savings and special deals, and the platinum shall go towards the old-style Club Nintendo rewards.

I’m not sure if the program will be enough to garner attention towards Nintendo, however it can hardly hinder their chances. That said, I think their greatest hope lies in their new NX system coming up in the future.

Loyalty programs are great, kick ass systems are better.
