One of the most powerful characters in the MCU is Captain Marvel and earlier this year she exploded onto the silver screen. Fans went to see it in droves both in the United States as well as worldwide. Now the folks over at Disney have released this movie out on Blu-ray but will this release capture the magic that was in the theater?

If you haven’t seen this film it focuses on a Kree warrior known as Vers and how she has been having dreams that were not of her life. On her first mission things go horribly wrong as she is captured by a race of shapeshifters known as the Skrulls. She manages to break free of her captors however, she winds up on earth. When she crashes to earth she is met by a younger Nick Fury during the 90’s. Her new mission is to find the Skrulls that have followed her to earth however, are they truly the enemy? Will she find out the source of the dreams that she had been having? This and other questions will be revealed and I have to say that this film was amazing the second time I’d seen it as I had noticed things I had not seen in the theater. I especially love the cameo by the late Stan Lee as he is reading a script for Mallrats (and this made Kevin Smith really happy as well).

There are even more special features crammed onto this Blu-ray disc that it is amazing how they got all this content to fit! First there are the deleted scenes that add a bit of depth to the movie ranging from tracking the stolen quadjet to the starforce members talking as they are enroute to their mission on Torfa. There is also a gag reel and you can see the actors on set blowing their lines or just being silly. There are also six.. yes.. six featurettes on this disc and they are Hiss-terical Cat-itude which show how Goose was brought onto the movie and how they worked with this cat on set. Becoming a Hero shows how Brie Larson was transformed into the legendary Captain Marvel. The origin of Nick Fury chronicles how this character shaped some of the events that have happened in the MCU. The featurette Big Hero Moment shows how the introduction of Captain Marvel will change this universe now and forever. The Dream Team shows how the directors Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck were the only people that could have brought this movie to life. The last feaurette deals with the conflict between the Kree and the Skrulls chronicling their conflict.

Whether you saw this film in the theater or have yet seen it you need to pick up Captain Marvel on Blu-ray today. So sit back, pop in this movie and get ready to Higher, Farther and Faster with Captain Marvel.
