FYE’s IT Will Make You Afraid of Clowns

Last year we were treated to a modern release of Steven King’s iconic tale It about a clown that inhabits a small town of Derry, Maine. This clown preys on the fears of the kids that live in that town as they try to band together to defeat this evil. Years prior there was another version that was actually shown on television with an all star cast. This version, while it doesn’t seem to invoke the same amount of fear as the newer one, still has a special place in my heart. Now the folks over at FYE have released a limited edition steelbook of It and we are going to take a closer look at it.

The first thing that you’ll recognize is the art as you will see the ghastly painted face of Tim Curry that seems to stare right through you. On the back of the case there is a cheerful full-bodied version of Pennywise as he is clutching a bouquet of balloons and laughing at them. Also the insert has Pennywise laughing about something against a wood paneled background. This makes this steelbook look amazing and will put you in the mood to watch the film.

For those that have never seen this movie it takes place during two time periods – the first being 1957 as the kids have stumbled across a secret in Derry, Maine that might get them killed. As they find the evil and actually defeat it they make a pact to go back to their hometown if the evil should return. Years later the evil has resurfaced and they must band together to see if they can fight this evil.

The entire film fits on one blu-ray and has been given a better treatment as it is now at 1080p and has a DTS master audio track that’s wired to give you the best sound possible. However, there only special feature that I saw on this disc was an audio commentary that consisted of the director Tommy Lee Wallace along with the actors that took part in the film. John Ritter, Tim Reid, Dennis Christopher and Richard Thomas are all on the commentary and they share their experiences in making this film.

If you are a fan of this series then you need to get this version of the film as it is only available for a limited time. To order your very own copy go here to get it and make sure you visit www.fye.com for more exclusive merchandise that you cannot get anywhere else.
