But what if there was another view of the same genre? What if there was a more grittier science fiction story that focused on the most basic of human needs? Skybound entertainment has answered the call with a new book that is going to be released next year called Extremity.
The world of Extremity is a harsh universe where warring factions are always locked in bitter conflict. At the center of it all is a girl by the name of Thea and she has lost more in this conflict than others. During a siege by the Paznina War Machine their home was destroyed, her mother was killed and her hand was ripped from her body. Ever since that day she has vowed one thing which keeps her moving forward.
Revenge.
I have read the first issue and all I can say is this reads more like an action sci-fi movie than a comic. There is tons of action in the first issue alone and all I can say is if you love hard science fiction you will LOVE this book. Extremity was created by the talented Daniel Warren Johnson who not only writes the book but he does the art as well! He has worked on a few projects for Dark Horse (Ghost Fleet and Alabaster) as well as Marvel (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) Daniel also has an ongoing webcomic that is called Space Mullet and it is an amazing comic that has gone on for quite sometime.
Extremity goes on sale March 1st of next year and I cannot wait for this to hit the store shelves. Watch out for the next great series from Image / Skybound coming out next year!
