I grew up on the east coast in Staten Island NY and every summer we used to go to Seaside Heights, NJ for vacation. One time I had roller skated a bit too far and I couldn’t get back without these evil people getting in my way. My mom was scared something happened to me as I was by myself. I always wondered what if something sinister was at the core of that? This is the premise of the new Jordan Peele horror movie called Us.
The trailer starts out as the family of four (man, woman an older daughter and younger brother) is heading to the beach for vacation. However, one night as the family is all settled in they notice another family standing at the top of the driveway. This other family dressed all in red quickly invades the house and the younger son states that it is us.
The trailer then flashes through a bunch of imagery including the famous rorschach tests in which you can make out some sinister images. While I have no idea what is going on I do get sort of a creepy post-apocalyptic vibe in some of the images. Maybe we all have an evil side urging to get out and once it does and takes form there’s no stopping it?
