Does Coulson’s new appendage on Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. have any connections to the upcoming Black Panther movie and its villain, Ulysses Klaw?

Agent Coulson’s body has been through a lot since he was speared by Loki in the first Avengers movie. He died and was painfully brought back to life before the events of the Marvel’s Agents of Shield series premiered. The end of last season was no picnic for Coulson either as he lost part of his arm when Mack chopped it off after he grabbed a Terrigen Crystal and stopped it from hitting the floor.

agents-of-shield-bannerAll things considered the ever cool Coulson took it all in stride and is now sporting a nifty detachable bionic hand. In last week’s season premiere he changed the hand more than once and even confessed that he was was still getting used to his new appendage. The look of the tech and the sight of the screw-on-hand got the creaky gears moving in my head and I flashed back to Avengers: Age of Ultron for one of the previous times (there have been several) someone lost a hand in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaw in Avengers Age of UltronThe scene in question centres around arms dealer Ulysses Klaue as he confronts the Avengers and the Maximoff twins when they storm his hideout in Wakanda. During the melee, Klaue loses an arm and is never heard of in the film again. However, Black Panther fans are well aware that Klaue in the movie is Ulysses Klaue/Klaw in the books.

Will the tech surrounding Coulson’s arm play a role in how Klaue gets his weapon for the Black Panther movie? Perhaps future episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will help to clear up any connections between the two.
