I don’t know about you guys, but the Castlevania series on Netflix was really cool. I enjoyed the animation and the general tone of the series. It didn’t hurt that I thought the action sequences were pretty cool, and that Korra from Avatar could learn a thing or two about using ice as a weapon from Sypha.
That said, I was excited to hear that the Devil May Cry series was going to get the same treatment. The executive producer of Castlevania, Adi Shankar, has stated that he will be working on the new series. In fact, his exact wording, according to IGN, was that he acquired the rights to the show so that “Hollywood [doesn’t] fuck this up.” As they tend to in relation to gaming movies, let alone a game turned into a show.
In an odd twist, yet kind of exciting, Shankar has also stated that the Castlevania and Devil May Cry universes will mesh in what he has dubbed the “bootleg multiverse.” Though how he will tie in the stories remains to be seen, I can almost smell a Dante versus Belmont fight in the future.
What do you guys think? Are you excited at the prospect?
