Zombies.
Zombies are becoming the new norm of the gaming world, and are often being incorporated in one form or another in recent hit titles. Whether that be Resident Evil, Black Ops 2, or even The Last of Us. A game where zombies are involved, and slowly but surely chasing down the human race to extinction, is always a fun money grab. The only difference between games being how this “zombie” system is incorporated.
In the new upcoming title, announced at E3 by Sony Bend, Days Gone is an open world action adventure set in the Pacific west. The game takes place two years after some sort of global disaster – left unexplained I’m sure – wipes out a majority of the Earth’s populace and transforming millions into zombie creatures dubbed “Freakers”. The story centres on Deacon St. John – a drifting mercenary who seems to have no place to call his own.
Not much is known about the upcoming title, but to give us a hint of whats to come the developers did an on stage demo of their work – check it out:
As you can see from the game play demo, the game doesn’t centre on one on one fighting as Resident Evil or even Last of Us generated to a smaller degree. Instead it features a never ending horde of monsters – which at best you can only slow down and outrun by using the environment and your wits. The PlayStation Blog stated that the horde “eats, moves, and attacks together, almost as one”. A game where you cannot win – but maybe out last.
