CrossPlay For Rocket League Delayed Until 2019

The idea of destroying our friends at any game we wish has been a desire for any gamer for as long as there have been games being made. The invention of different systems made this joy harder to be had, as you had to have the exact same system as your friend to enjoy destroying them as you rightfully deserved.

That said, Rocket League – your favorite soccer car game – has been trying to fix this issue for quite some time. However, to those of you hoping to be enjoying the fruits of Psyonix’s labor in the immediate future, I am sorry to say you’re going to have to wait a little longer.

In an announcement brought to us by Psyonixs’ blog page, they told us that “While our goal was to release RocketID before the end of 2018, we’ve made the difficult decision to push its release into early 2019″. As this is the third time such news has filtered through our ears, it shouldn’t be too surprising. However, a feature like RocketID, which will allow me to create parties with friends across all platforms, is definitely one that seems worth waiting for.

To soften the blow of this disappointing news, they added some good news for Sony gamers everywhere – stating that “The good news is that with Sony’s recent announcements regarding full cross-platform functionality, we can now make additional changes to prepare RocketID for ALL platforms should we receive permission to do so!”

While Sony was reluctant before in regards to cross-platform play, their latest stance seems to be that they are definitely open to playing in the sandbox with other kids. Though admittedly it seems more like they are dipping their toe into the stream as opposed to jumping in full tilt like everyone else. As a Sony gamer at heart, I can only hope that they change their mind as many of my games only exist on the PS4. So here’s hoping that I’ll get to destroy you all on the pitch sometime soon – no matter the console.
