Due to the global pandemic, the question of whether or not movie theaters would survive was on everyone’s minds. While they seemed to have finally made their comeback, we never honestly doubted them because there’s something about seeing a visually stunning film on the big screen that you can’t beat on small home TVs.
However, if you own a high-quality home theater, that changes things. At times, it can feel like you’re back at the theater seeing the movie for the first time. Here’s a list of some jaw-dropping films you should watch in your home theater to relive the glory that they brought to the big screen.
Inception
Let’s start this list with what might be one of the most stunning movies this century. Even though not all of Inception is about blowing away the audience with visuals, it accomplished a style that many other movies have tried to replicate. Even if the story goes over your head upon first watching it, we’re sure the visuals will be enough to keep you entertained.
Gravity
You knew we had to include the film that most people refer to more as an experience than a movie. Gravity is one of the few movies filmed entirely on green screens. This makes sense, considering that we haven’t found a way to make movies in space yet. Displaying it in a home theater makes the visuals used in the film that much more impressive.
Transformers
This entry might be a bit controversial, but love or hate them, the Transformers series is an amazing set of graphically stunning movies. We decided to go with the first one for this list because it was the one that tried to have a good story. However, if you can’t get enough of the Transformers doing what they do best on screen, you might want to watch the whole series.
1917
If you haven’t been to the movie theaters since the pandemic, 1917 might have been one of the last movies you saw on the big screen. While all war movies look great in home theaters, we decided to include this one due to the “taken in one shot” approach that the move went with. Obviously, there were cuts made while filming, but it’s a unique way to film a movie that looks best on a larger screen.
Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse
Here’s an animated piece for the final jaw-dropping film you should watch in your home theater. Whether you’re annoyed with the number of superhero movies that have come out or not, you can’t miss out on the visual feast that is Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. The bold art style mixed with the lower number of frames per second both come together to make this movie feel more like a comic book come to life. With the sequel coming out soon, now is the perfect time to watch this graphical masterpiece.
