Summertime. 

While most people are headed towards the beaches, theme parks and other destinations there are some that are going to flock to San Diego. They aren’t going for the attractions or the weather they are going to attend San Diego Comic Con! This series of articles is a primer to the people who are going to the con and want a clear and concise offering of what is going to be available at the con this year. This section deals with the companies who bring either cult hits or classics to you in the comfort of your own home.

Shout Factory has always been a big draw and this year is no exception. Located at Booth #4118 there are a ton of videos that are going to be released at the convention and the list is:

Anything above marked with an * has a free poster or lithograph (while supplies last) and anything with a # is not even in stores yet! This will be the first time you can get these at SDCC! There are also a few things for purchase and most is geared for the fans of MST3k. You will be able to buy socks (with Crow T Robot and Tom Servo on them), a jigsaw puzzle of the gauntlet and a lithograph that features all the mads. The last great item you can purchase is a limited edition statue of the werewolf from Joe Dante’s The Howling! This bloodied variant is limited to 500 pieces and it was done in collaboration with PSC collectibles. Also, there are a few events kicking off on Thursday, July 18th with a Home Movies 20th Anniversary Reunion! This will take place at 4:45pm-5:45pm in room 6BCF and brings back the cast for the first time at SDCC! On Friday, July 19th What We Left Behind: Looking Back at Star Trek: Deep Space 9 takes place in room 32AB. This will feature the showrunner Ira Steven Behr who was behind the show as well as some select cast members. On Saturday, July 20th there will be two events as Blake Foster will be signing copies of Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie from 12pm to 1pm. Later on that day from 8pm to 9pm you can sit on Inside an Inside Studio: Shout! Factory. Held in Room 23ABC this will show the day to day operations over at Shout! Factory and how they acquire and release these great films.

Troma has been the king of low budget gore fests such as Toxic Avenger, Class of Nuke-Em High and tons more. They are going to be at the con at the exhibitors hall at booth 4017 selling their classics and merchandise associated with these classics. Also, in Room 25ABC there is going to be a panel called Happy Birthday, Troma. You will be able to celebrate 45 years of Troma with the host Lloyd Kaufman and with guest stars Dolph Ziggler, Chuck Tingle, Trent Hagga, James Rolfe and Patricia Swinney Kaufman. This will be going on Saturday July, 20th from 9:00-10:00pm. So if you are a fan of Troma you need to get to this panel.

If you are a fan of anime then you have heard of the great studio known as Funimation. They are going to be at the convention at booth 4135 and you will be able to buy your favorite series as well as merchandise at this booth. They also have two panels going on and the first takes place on Thursday, July 18th from 10:00-11:30am with the My Hero Academia panel. This will be taking place in room 6BCF and features two of the english voice actors from the series (Justin Briner & Clifford Chapin) as well as two football players Marcus Davenport (New Orleans Saints) and Adam Gettis (Atlanta Falcons). On Saturday, July 20th Funimation will host their Industry Panel from 7:30-8:00pm in room 7AB. This panel will cover all the latest news, info and annoucements from Funimation. So if you want to learn about what they are coming out with then this is panel to attend.
