Whether playing them in person with your friends or playing with someone halfway around the world this is what SDCC is going to have for gaming.
Marvel kicks things of as they are hosting a Marvel Games panel in Hall H on Thursday, July 19th from 1:00pm-2:00pm. Strike Force, Contest of Champions, Battle Lines, the new Spiderman game from Insomniac as well as a VR game called Powers United will be showcased at this panel. And this is only what is announced as there will be more surprises on hand so the only way to experience this is to get to Hall H for this panel! Also, FoxNext who does Marvel Strike Force will be at the show and they’re located at 2543 so go ahead and swing by and check ‘em out!
Capcom is also going to be coming to San Diego Comic Con and Resident Evil 2 had already been teased beforehand. Hopefully on Friday, June 20th we will get more information about this remake on the next gen systems and with the small preview trailer we have seen so far it looks absolutely amazing. Also, Monster Hunter World is coming to the PC on August 9th and they will probably showcase the game at this convention as well. To see what Capcom has to offer go over to their booth which is located at 215.
Board Games are always a big draw at San Diego Comic Con and this year is no exception. There are a variety of games from such companies as Fantasy Flight Games which is located at 2913 and is famous for some games such as Elder Sign and Netrunner. USAOpoly will be located at 1028 and they are famous for the just released Outpost 31 based on the movie The Thing. Upper Deck is also going to be in attendance and they are located at 307 and they will have tons of games. From VS and Legendary to some of the single games such as Shark Island and Dingoes ate my Baby! And CMON will be in attendance at booth 4928 and they make some of the best miniature games around. From the zombie series Zombicide to the fast paced card game called Kingz. Cryptozoic Entertainment will also be attending the convention and they are debuting Rick and Morty: The Pickle Rick Game at this convention! If you are a fan of Rick and Morty or some of the other games they have check them out as they will be at booth 115.
Nintendo will be making a strong experience at SDCC this year and their booth is located at 235. This booth will have the latest games that will be released on the Switch and I hope to see Octopath Traveller as the game looks amazing. Nintendo is also going to have a chillout lounge that will be available in the San Diego Ballroom which is located in the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina Hotel located at 333 West Harbor Drive. Also, they will be holding an event on Thursday, July 19th 3:00pm-4:00pm on how to create a safe and open community for gamers.
Microsoft has always had a big presence at SDCC and this year will be no different. They will have a booth located at 100 however, as I reached out to them as of writing this article they have yet to release what games they are going to be bringing to the convention. My guess is I hope they will be showing off some of the games announced at E3 such as Crackdown 3 or even Cyberpunk 2077 but there’s no telling at this point. Also, it doesn’t look like they have any events scheduled however, that might change of the week of the convention.
Blizzard has a lot of great properties such as Overwatch, Hearthstone, Starcraft and World of Warcraft and they also will have a booth at SDCC. The booth is located at 140 and they are going to be hosting two panels that you can attend. The first is Behind the Cards: The Art of Blizzard’s Hearthstone will discuss the art from concept to completion. If you want to check this out it will be held on Thursday July 19, 2018 12:00pm – 1:00pm in Room 5AB. Also, they are hosting another panel entitled Chapters and Panels: Blizzard Publishing. This will focus on how Blizzard is bringing their properties past the gaming experience into novels and comics. If you would like to attend you can do so on Saturday July 21, 2018 3:30pm – 4:30pm in Room 5AB.
Sony will also be showing up at this classic event however, they do not have any panels scheduled for this year’s SDCC. They will have a booth located at 121 but there is no telling what they are going to be showcasing at this year’s event. Hopefully we will see some more information and perhaps gameplay for the new Kojima game Death Stranding as I STILL have no idea what that game is about.
To round out the games there are four publishers that will be at the convention and those are Square Enix located at 3829, Ubisoft at 135 and Konami Digital Entertainment at 3713. What I would love to see from each of these would be more on Kingdom Hearts 3 from Square Enix as to what new surprises await us in this game. I also wanted to see more from Ubisoft especially the Division 2 and Beyond Good and Evil 2. And as for Konami I have no idea what surprises they might have in store for us but I will be watching to see what happens!
And there you have it! This is just one of a few articles I am releasing to keep you guys informed about all the great stuff coming out of San Diego, Keep it tuned into Comix Asylum for more news and exclusives!
