The Terror 110 – We Are Gone

*Warning: Review contains spoilers.

The last episode of the terror left us in dire straits as Captain Francis was captured by Cornelius Hinkley’s men. These men have taken to unorthodox ways to survive in this bitter wasteland. They have eaten others flesh and the monster is still out there running wild. The lady in white is tasked with trying to control the Tuunbaq and the other group is now without their captain.

We Are Gone opens with Cornelius Hinkley asking Francis what day it is and he tells him he actually doesn’t know. He’s informed that it’s a Wednesday and is reminded that he shared a toast with the captain on that day. However, Hinkley remembers it differently as he was treated as inferior but Francis tries to pass it off as a joke. Hinkley will not have any of that as he instructs others to clean up Captain Francis as he has “fallen”.

Meanwhile back at the other camp it is split between going after the captain that is being held by Hinkley and his men. They are bickering back and forth as they are trying to do what it is necessary to survive and get out of there alive. However, they also want to mount a rescue mission in order to save the captain. Later on Dr. Henry Goodsir is cleaning up the captain’s wounds and tells him how many have guns that are left out of the eleven. He tells him and also mentions that one of the men that had a gun is already dead and has been consumed by the men. Now the filthy truth has reared its head as these men have resorted to cannibalism and the captain now knows it. Dr. Henry Goodsir asks Captain Francis to deliver something to someone back in England. At first he says no however, he finally relents and takes the offering. Before leaving the tent the doctor warns the captain to not eat of his flesh at all and if he has to to eat only the feet.

We shift back to the other camp as we see everyone leaving the camp but where are they going? Are they going to rescue the captain or are they trying to make for open sea? One of the crew is left behind and is hallucinating as he crawls after the rest of the crew across a tabletop with a feast fit for a king. At the end of the table is Captain Francis Crozier and he is sitting regally at the end of the table. He croaks out “Captain!” but the rest of the group is getting further away and does not hear his plea.

This is the final episode of the series and there are more than a few twists and turns and I do not want to spoil this episode for anyone. However, if you have watched until now you will love the way this series is being wrapped up.
