smann_cv1The Man of Steel has been around since 1938 and has undergone many changes and revisions. From his early incarnations in Action Comics to the death and rebirth of the hero there are many stories that are told about the Last Son of Krypton. DC has unleashed Superman Annual #1 but is this going to be a story that you are going to want to read?

For those that don’t know what an annual is it is either a collection of short stories or one long one. This one happens to be the latter as Clark checks out the lands of Hamilton County. He wonders why the lands are so dry as they have been getting a good amount of rain as of late. Changing into his alter ego Superman he takes to the skies to find the source of the problem. Using his x-ray vision he scans the lake bed and discovers a few sinkholes. Without any sudden warning a creature shoots up screaming at Superman that he doesn’t belong here. This creature was once the scientist Dr. Alec Holland but most know him as the Swamp Thing. What is the Swamp Thing doing there and will they work together to solve the problems of this drought?

This great book has the storytelling talents of both Peter J Tomasi and Patrick Gleason. Both of these folks have worked on some great projects for DC including JSA, Batman and Robin and of course Superman. The art of Jorge Jimenez graces this book throughout and he has worked on a few titles for DC as well including Smallville and Earth 2.

If you are a fan of the Man of Steel then you need to check out this book. It has a great story throughout and you definitely get your money’s worth. For more information on this and other comics head over to www.dccomics.com and get ready to discover what is causing this drought.
