Joust-A-Bouts lives up to its name as things get a little heated between Ming and a customer, an extremely large Wolverine statue makes its way into the Stash, an unexpected limited edition action figure makes an appearance as well as one of the most iconic graphic novels in comic book history.

Batman #111 becomes a bone of contention when Walt and a customer go back and forth over a fair price for the classic issue. The issue, first published in 1957, features the dynamic duo dressed as knights while fighting crime in Gotham City. To settle on a price, Walt comes up with an idea for Ming and the customer to take part in a jousting duel. To the spoils go the victor and its up to Ming to save Walt some money. Things get a little medieval and its smiles all around after the best-of-three competition comes to a close.

A rare action figure of perhaps the hardest working action hero comes into the Stash much to the delight of Walt and the lads. A customer shows up with a Mr. Clean Action Doll from 2000 and its presence unleashes Walt’s passion for advertising related collectibles. During the conversation, Mr. Clean’s iconic status is considered along with his merits as a super hero.

When a customer brings in a Wolverine Legendary Scale Figure from Sideshow Collectibles it catches everyone’s attention. The truly massive figure, which measures over 2.5 feet tall was released in 2007 and is among one of the best collectibles Sideshow has ever produced. The statue’s size and the asking price lead to a painful negotiation until Mike steps in as the voice of reason.

1982’s The Death of Captain Marvel makes its way into the store and the iconic graphic novel piques Walt’s interest. The importance of the book is discussed during the round table with Kevin. Taking super hero comics and making them deal with real life events like dying from cancer moved the medium from the funny pages to legitimate story telling.
