Knuckleheads premiered on Teletoon at Night on Saturday and the episode, Save the Zwizzes probably did more to setback the notion of intergalactic marriage than anything in recent memory. The episode began with the King of the savage and cruel Krads looking to find another husband for his daughter, Aiesha. The unfortunate target of Aiesha’s attention is the King of the Zwizzes and when the ‘request’ is politely denied, the King is kidnapped and forced into marriage.

With their king in peril Zwizzes, Zack and Zazoo beamed down to Earth and enlisted the aid of Captain Cooper, as he’s sitting on the john no less. The opening few minutes of the episode set the tone for an outrageous episode that spanned from Earth to the deep reaches of space. The abundance of toilet humor, sexual innuendo, Canadiana and pop culture references to made the episode move quickly and Save the Zwizzes was an enjoyable half hour of comedy.

Most of the comedy arose from the sheer stupidity of the characters as they bumbled their way through one moment of ineptitude after another. The innovative animation style matches the outrageous scenarios and gives Knuckleheads a distinctive look. Based on the hit Quebec TV and web series, Têtes à claques, Knuckleheads is part of Teletoon at Night’s lineup and draws inspiration from such shows as The Simpsons and Family Guy but with a distinctive Canadian flare.

Knuckleheads does a great job of carrying on the legacy started by Têtes à claques, while forging one of it’s own. It’s a welcome addition to a long line of Canadian comedy programs and will fit in nicely with the programming currently available on Teletoon at Night.
