Total Eclipses Last Year’s Record-Setting Performance Headed Into Upcoming Seasons
“Fear the Walking Dead” Returns To AMC For The Second Half Of Its Second Season On August 21
“The Walking Dead” Returns To AMC For Its Seventh Season On October 23
NEW YORK, NY – July 27, 2016 – AMC today announced that the trailers it premiered at Comic-Con International in San Diego Friday promoting the upcoming seventh season of “The Walking Dead” and second half of the second season of “Fear the Walking Dead” have been viewed online nearly 25 million times, a new record eclipsing the activity generated by last year’s respective trailers over the first four days of availability.
Since their release on Friday afternoon in San Diego, the season seven trailer for “The Walking Dead,” the #1 series across all of television among adults 18-49 for four years running, has notched 17.6 million total views across Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and AMC.com, and the trailer previewing the second half of the second season of “Fear the Walking Dead,” has garnered more than 7 million views across the same platforms.
“Live, fan-driven events like Comic-Con with unique panels, customized trailers and other content we love sharing have become an important part of our effort to keep viewers energized and engaged with AMC originals all year long,” said Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. “Thousands of fans in Hall H were the first to see these trailers for the upcoming seasons of ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Fear the Walking Dead,’ but to rack up a record 25 million views in just a few days? It really does meet our goal of turning the world into Hall H.”
AMC recently announced that the second half of the second season of “Fear the Walking Dead” will premiere on Sunday, August 21 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, while season seven of “The Walking Dead” will premiere Sunday, October 23 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
Heading into this year’s Comic-Con International, AMC also updated its popular Dead Yourself app, adding new visual features from the most recent season of both “The Walking Dead” and “Fear the Walking Dead,” as well as new animations to actually bring fan creations to life, with sound effects, gnarling and – of course – biting.
