Horizon: Zero Dawn Delayed
When it rains, it pours, and it’s pouring in the world of gamers.
Yet another game has been delayed this year, and this time it’s a highly anticipated one. Killzone developers, Guerrilla Games, next hit title for the PlayStation 4 Horizon: Zero Dawn won’t be making it to the gaming world as early as expected.
In fact it won’t make it to us anytime this year at all.
The upcoming game is now slated to arrive on February 28,2017 and might as well feel like a lifetime away. A new trailer has been released with the news, as if to remind us that the wait will be worth it:
The managing director of Guerrilla games, director Hermen Hulst, had this to say in regards to the delay: “It wasn’t an easy choice to make; we know many of you have been anxious to play the game since we first announced it…However, we also want to ensure that Horizon Zero Dawn lives up to the visuals and gameplay quality that our games are known for. The new date affords us the extra time required to deliver fully on our ambitious vision for Horizon Zero Dawn.”
For all of you who can appreciate this reasoning, bravo for your dignity and patience. For those of you like me who just want their games released?
Let us cry together.
Hulst himself went on to address the later category, citing that he knows the delay “may not please everyone,” but emphasized that it would benefit the game greatly.
The company is “confident that the advantages of the additional development time afforded by the new date will become clear in the coming months. We really, really appreciate your patience and continued support, and look forward to bringing you the best game we possibly can in February 2017.”
Horizon Zero Dawn was announced at E3 in 2015, and has an open world concept that will have players hunting through its vast world. With a day and night cycle in place, and monstrous mountains and forest to hunt through, it will likely appeal to the RPG gamer in many of us.
Don’t forget the robot dinosaurs, the large number of robot dinosaurs.
Not much else is known about the upcoming title, other than it won’t have any multiplayer to speak of, yet is promising to have “certain social features”.
I’m personally hoping for some sort of couch co-op play, but those days seem long past in the gaming world.
