Corus Entertainment Boosts its Adult Swim Lineup with the Best in Primetime Animation

(February 24, 2016 – Toronto, ON) Coming this spring to Corus Entertainment’s Adult Swim (Canada), viewers will enjoy more content than ever before with a packed schedule of original series, fan-favourites and highly anticipated premieres. Home to irreverent primetime animated comedies for young adults, Adult Swim is now available in close to 5 million households and has quickly built a dedicated following around hit series from leading studios.  Appealing to a broad audience of adult animation fans, the channel offers a range of programs from top-rated series Archer (FX Productions) to hits like Family Guy and American Dad (Fox) and a selection of Adult Swim’s most popular original series including Rick and Morty and Robot Chicken.

 

Premiering on ThursdayMarch 31 (day-and-date with the U.S.), the seventh season of the critically acclaimed spy series Archer makes its highly anticipated return. The new season will also air on Corus’ TELETOON at Night. To date, Season 6 was the highest rated season on TELETOON at Night.

 

Rick and Morty, the hilarious grandfather, grandson, inter-dimensional, animated series will debut its second season on Sunday, March 27. Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon,Season 2 sees Rick Sanchez (Justin Roiland) still living with his daughter Beth’s (Sarah Chalke) family and causing more trouble than ever. This season, the rest of the family, his son-in-law Jerry (Chris Parnell), grand-daughter Summer (Spencer Grammer) and grandson Morty (Justin Roiland) are dragged into Rick’s intergalactic adventures, as he faces new threats and mysteries of his secret past are revealed.

 

“Since broadening Adult Swim’s distribution in September, we’ve curated the top primetime animation from the best studios in the business to bring a unique offering to Canadian viewers,” said Colin Bohm, Executive Vice President and Head of Corus Kids. “From hit series Archer, to network premieres of Rick and Morty and Robot Chicken to Canadian original series Fugget About It, Adult Swim has a robust lineup of can’t miss programming.”

 

Building on the buzz surrounding the theatrical release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, viewers will be treated to DC Comic themed episodes of Robot Chicken in a week-long celebration of caped super heroes from March 14 to 18.

 

The spring slate will be rounded out by fan-favourites including The Venture Bros., Samurai Jack, Frisky Dingo and Canadian original series Fugget About it and Knuckleheads.
