Rise of The Tomb Raider Coming to Other Platforms
Author: S.A.

It’s always annoying to have to wait on a video game, doubly so when it’s not only released but you don’t have the correct system to play it due to exclusivity deals. That said, the time for our wait isn’t yet over but at least has an end in site in regards to The Rise of The Tomb Raider. That’s right folks, the Tomb raider game is finally up for pre-orders for the PS4 version.

However, don’t get to excited, the game is set to release December 30, 2016.

That’s right, we have nearly a year of waiting to go through.

Though for those of you following along since the launch of the game, and the rather large back lash by fans due to the exclusivity given to the Microsoft console, this should come as no surprise. It was speculated from the very beginning, though never confirmed, that the exclusivity deal would last only a year in nature and it seems like Crystal Dynamics is trying to deliver on that.

Initially, when the company annouced that only Microsoft would have their game, they defended that position with vigour. They stated the following:

“Today’s announcement with Microsoft is one step to help us put Tomb Raider on top of action adventure gaming…Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011.We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past – we believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft.”

A rather adamant defence for what many felt at the time was a poor decision. In truth, it likely killed off a huge number of fans for Crystal Dynamics. The gaming world often forgets how loyal fans are to a franchise, and when slighted how deep those wounds run. Yet here they are with the release coming in the far off future, and it’s hard to see whether the game will fly or die.

945676That said, I’m still going to buy the game. Not because I care about Crystal Dynamics, but rather because I loved the last Tomb Raider game.

There’s something to say for good writing after all.
