PDP Charging in a Flash
Author: S.A.
There is one thing that gamers everywhere hate with a passion, and that is when our systems tell us our controllers are nearly dead. That moment where we have no batteries left, or have to leave our controllers to charge, and have to end our current gaming session is beyond crushing. After all, why should our gaming session be controlled by the power that remains within our gaming controllers?
It shouldn’t.
Better yet, it won’t be soon.
It seems like the programmers over at Performance Design Products (PDP) are using the Xbox One controller to solve this never ending issue. They are crafting a new charging prototype that will not only revolutionize the way we charge things, but also change how many hours of gaming I can get in each day.
According to interviews with PDP, the new charger is supposed to be able to charge your controller with an 8 hour charge within, wait for it, sixty seconds. That’s right folks, we can go and make ourselves a tasty snack and be back to find our controllers ready to go again.
I’m tingling from sheer excitement here folks.
The company had this to say about their upcoming product:
“We’ve developed a technology to charge your controller in a new way, it’s not using a battery pack. In the past it has been about either your dry cell battery chemistries or your lithium ion or lithium polymers, but we’ve developed a new type of power pack… It’s a physical reaction rather than a chemical reaction – it’s a new type of power pack chemistry”.
-Christopher Dingle, PDP Director of Product Development
For those of you who are worried that this product will solely be for the Xbox, worry not. There will eventually be a working pack for the PS4 and mayhaps even mobile devices. That’s right folks, even your phone might be getting a new little helper. While it is true that the charging device retails at $99, this is merely a pittance in terms of convenience that it will cause gamers in their future endeavors and I can see this device selling out across the board.
So watch out folks, the charge will be here in a second.
