Uncharted 4 Death of Nathan Drake
Author: S.A.
As a fan, it’s easy for me to admit that I get attached to the gaming characters that have been featured in many of the childhood games of my youth. This ranges from Tidus in Final Fantasy 10, to Sora from Kingdom Hearts. All of whom had a pivotal influence on my own morals as an adult due to the sheer attachment I had to them as characters. That said, when anything happened to them that was less than positive within their gaming franchise I was either crushed or outraged.
And Naughty Dog seems to want to crush us.
Though it’s rare, and highly frowned upon by many gaming fans, Naughty Dog might kill of their main protagonist in their upcoming game Uncharted 4 A Thief’s End. The company has dropped well placed hints at the possible demise at our fortune hunter Nathan Drake, and I’ll be the first to admit that I’m more than a little apprehensive at playing the future title.
Druckmann, the creative director at Naughty Dog, has stated that Drake is at the height of his popularity. That said, the company wants to ensure that Drake goes out on a fitting note, as oppose to a lack luster ending. Which, while unconfirmed, might mean the death of one of gaming’s favorite characters.
However let us put it out there that this isn’t the first time the company has hinted at Drakes death, and in fact the possibility has been tossed around a few times in the past. Yet Drake remains alive and kicking. So while the trailer’s and general tone of the upcoming title remains dark, there still remains a bit of hope for our hero. The death of whom would be a rather huge foot note on gaming history, as the rarity of main protagonists deaths are astronomical. Which in turn would allow for Nathan Drake to go down in gaming history as one of our most beloved heroes, and also be remembered forever as a gaming icon.
That said, I would really appreciate it if Nathan Drake didn’t die.
Pray with me old/young gamers, let us not lose one of our own.
