Ever had that dream where you’re drowning under water, and you can’t seem to save yourself? Here’s that horrifying dream come to life by the developers over at Three One Zero, with a unique twist, and that being you’re now drowning…. in space. Now that’s not something I saw coming, and is definitely going to change my future nightmares.
So what do you do when there’s literally no place to go….
Adrift is a game that is played from the first person point of view. In this suspenseful journey into the dark unknown we take control of Commander Alex Oshima. The poor commander is in quite a pickle as he finds himself outside of a destroyed space ship, and sorely lacking on oxygen in his tank. That said, players will find themselves within a zero gravity situation wherein which they must maintain oxygen levels in a desperate means of survival. The environment, or more accurately the remains of your space station, may be fully explored. However, always keep an eye on your oxygen gauge for it determines if you will be able to survive the journey there and back. Also keep an eye out for oxygen tanks that are located throughout this black abyss, they stop you from suffocating within your suit which I find to be a worth whiled endeavour.
Yes let’s fix the space station….the space flipping station.
As to how you survive? Well it seems like players will be forced to move through a series of areas and complete puzzles in each one, all in the vein of finding a way to return home in one piece. While doing that, we will find audio logs that will tell us exactly what happened in regards to our space station blowing up and a series of objects from our dead crew members. It seems to me that the Three One Zero developers really want to let us know that we were lucky to survive, in any way they can.
So can you make it home safely? Or will you drown in the darkness known to us as space. Lets find out folks.
