Not much is known about the upcoming game called Firewatch, but from what we can gather through the available game play trailer is that it is a narrative driven game. What this means is that the focuses will be on the unfolding of a, hopefully, compelling story as oppose an action driven adventure. So to those of you looking for a hack and slash game, or a Role Playing master piece? Keep on moving.
Henry Investigating the surrounding wilderness…where’s my gun?
The game takes place in the Wyoming wilderness in 1989. We get to take control of Henry, a man who has recently come on hard times and has escaped away to the wilderness to seemingly hide from the world. He’s a fire lookout now whose assigned tower is stationed in ShoShone National Forest. However Henry’s quiet escape into the wilderness might not be as uneventful as he first thought. It’s through exploring the surrounding forest that we begin to discover clues about mysterious events happening in our quiet sanctuary. All of which are seemingly related to the ransacking of our own patrol tower while we are out doing on patrol. During the game the only person we have to keep us company is our supervisor Delilah, who only talks to us through the walkie-talkie that we never part with.
Someone come’s in and ruins our lovely little home..I’m out for blood.
I’m hesitant to recommend this game to the rest of you gamers, because it doesn’t look like it will be either long or very enjoyable for those looking for a high paced game. That said, I personally love games where you slowly but surely have a story unveiled to you through continuous sleuthing on the gamers part. Whose messing with Henry? Why did Delilah seem so shifty at the end of the game play trailer? Who was the man in the woods? These are all questions I want to know, and I’m going to find out.
Join me in the story when the games released guys, let’s find out the truth together.
