AMCACTOR AND BIKER-ENTHUSIAST NORMAN REEDUS HITS THE OPEN ROAD IN SIX, ONE-HOUR EPISODES TO EXPLORE MOTORCYCLE CULTURE AND ITS HISTORY

NEW YORK, NY – October 29, 2015 – AMC announced today that it has greenlit the non-fiction series “Ride with Norman Reedus” (working title), which will debut in 2016.  Six one-hour episodes will follow actor and biker-enthusiast Reedus as he takes viewers on a ride on the open road to explore local motorcycle culture and its history and celebrate some of the best and brightest collectors, mechanics and motorcycle craftsmen around the country.  The series is produced by Left/Right Productions.

Each episode of “Ride” will begin in a different city where Reedus and his riding companion – a fellow actor, musician, friend, or local chopper fanatic who shares his passion for motorcycles – will journey to a new destination. Along the way, they will stop at various locales such as custom bike shops, tattoo parlors, collector’s warehouses, or a roadside smokehouse…with plenty of time for unplanned detours and tire changes.  The series will also showcase different types of motorcycles each week including vintage, minis and cruisers.

“We love being the home of people’s passion projects, and there is nobody more passionate about motorcycles than Norman Reedus,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV.  “He is an avid rider and aficionado who is deeply immersed in motorcycle culture. There is also nobody more fun to hang out with. This show will bring those two elements together for a weekly ride into the incredible world of motorcycles and the people who live and breathe them.”

“Norman’s interest in motorcycle culture and his natural ability to make friends wherever the road takes him are just two of the key ingredients that make this show so exciting for us,” said Ken Druckerman, co-president of Left/Right. “We look forward to taking viewers on a fun, imaginative, and revealing ride.”

“I’m incredibly excited and thankful to AMC for giving me the opportunity to share a passion of mine with our fans, and hopefully a whole new audience. I had a lot of fun filming and exploring, and I hope it shows,” said Reedus.

“Ride with Norman Reedus” is executive produced by Ken Druckerman and Banks Tarver (“This American Life,” “Small Town Security,” “Odd Mom Out”).  The series joins a slate of compelling and entertaining non-fiction programming that sits organically side-by-side with AMC’s iconic scripted series.  AMC’s first docu-drama series, “The Making of The Mob: New York,” returns with a second cycle in 2016 focusing on Al Capone in “The Making of The Mob: Chicago.”  In addition, AMC recently announced a greenlight of the documentary series “The American West” from executive producers Robert Redford and Laura Michalchyshyn with Sundance Productions and Stephen David Entertainment.  Fan favorites “Talking Dead” and “Comic Book Men” also continue their successful runs.  Overseeing “Ride with Norman Reedus” from AMC are Eliot Goldberg, senior vice president of non-fiction and alternative programming, and Marco Bresaz, vice president of non-fiction and alternative programming.
