Zombies are the bread and butter of everyday warfare games in the current decade. If there is a shooting game, often what comes as an additional add on is a zombie survival mode. With that in mind, Garden Warfare 2 is a fun idea in terms of a very common first person shooter game. It concentrates on the battle between Zombies and Plants, all of whom have a variety of abilities, and their battle for everyday earth.
The game itself takes place right after the events of the first game, Garden Warfare, and after a long drawn out war the Plants have lost to the Zombies. This is due to Dr. Edgar, the zombie leader, contacting his future self and gaining more technologically advanced weapons.
So essentially, the Plants get cheated.
With the future tech in hand, the zombies turn the tides on the plants and take over Suburbia, which they rename Zomburbia. The Plants hardly take this lying down, and go to war to reclaim their taken home with a zeal only seen in a video game character.
I personally would have turn tail and ran.
The game itself plays like a third – person shooter, much like its predecessor. In fact, the game plays nearly exactly the same as Garden Warfare. The difference lying in the addition of 6 new plant and zombie classes, and a few fun modes available to players as they progress through the game. Each class of zombie or plant has their own unique ability and thus needs to be thoroughly tried out before ruled to be useless. Some old characters have gained some new tricks to, so don’t rule them out just because you’ve played the previous title.
In truth the game isn’t ground breaking in terms of game play, but is extremely fun to play with a friend or online. It’s definitely one of those games you can turn on and pass a rainy day playing and have no regrets.
